Goldswagger is the new R&B and funk project from producer and songwriter Michael Goldwasser. Michael is best known for his work taking classic rock albums and translating them to an infectious reggae sound. His reimagining of Pink Floyd on the album Dub Side of the Moon was labeled by Mojo Magazine as the #2 cover album of all time.
Goldswagger is designed to capture the soul and funk vibe of late 70s and early 80s R&B and includes contributions by some artists who were part of that scene, including drummer John “JR” Robinson (Chaka Khan, Michael Jackson) on drums and horn player Bill Holloman (Chic).
The overall idea of Goldswagger sounded good, but when we heard that longtime SoulTracks fave Maya Azucena was on board, we were all in. “I Can’t Wait” is a blue-lights-in-the-basement old school ballad, produced, played, and arranged by Goldwasser with Maya out front doing her thing. It sounds like the great 70s ballads from Atlantic Starr or even Angela Bofill. A very refreshing sound in 2015.
We’re proud to present the World Premiere of “I Can’t Wait,” exclusively for SoulTrackers. Check out “I Can’t Wait” below and get ready to get your feet moving.
