(May 15, 2026) “Stuck In The Middle,” Will Preston’s new single, is about a man who finds himself in a place where he does not want to be – the shoulder to cry on. A lady came to him for relationship advice, and he responded by giving her what she said she wanted – his honest opinion on the matter. Either his advice was very good, or she doesn’t have anyone else to be her sounding board, because now he’s it.
That has placed him in the middle of a relationship. “Stuck In The Middle” is a song about the law of unintended consequences. Preston was being a friend who did not intend to be a confidant in the situationship between a woman and a man. The gender dynamic is what makes the arrangement stressful for Preston. This might not be as complicated if Preston were advising the guy – unless Preston had ulterior motives.
The drama in this song comes from questions that Preston leaves unanswered. Is he worried because he knows the guy will see evil intent where none exists? Preston suspects that the woman wants him to make a play. Why else would she unburden herself to him? Is that the case? Finally, how does Preston feel about her?
“Stuck In The Middle” is a great follow-up to Preston’s last angst filled confessional “Don’t Like Falling In Love.” Check it out here.
