(January 12, 2021) We’ve been writing about Whitney McClain since she was just a teenager, but the young singer and songwriter has developed into a top notch artist who has a sense of music history pervading her music.
On her newest single, McClain blends elements of classic 60s pop with the vibe of Beyonce’s “Single Ladies.” With “Top Spot,” she announces that she is going to continue to strive for success, regardless of the adversities and the “haters” trying to get in her way.
Don’t swear that ya got my back cause you’ve never been there when I needed you
I’ve been down but I never been out so for now I’ma give you a preview
I’m not giving up I just rise above
One door shuts 10 open up
May be rough but I know where it leads to
The bouncy number is a fun declaration of perseverence, and shows McClain continuing to grow as a performer who straddles the line between pop and soul. Check out “Top Spot” below, and tell us what you think.
