(January 22, 2026) Ty Juan’s “My Name is Ty” is a bouncy, joyful and danceable tune sung from the point of view of a single guy who looking to couple up with a lady who caught his eye and captured his imagination. The story line is familiar, and we’ve been down this story line trail before.
So, Ty Juan and collaborator and producer Regi Myrix had a challenge that is simple to understand but hard to execute – bring something new to a well-known narrative that has been done well in the past.
Ty Juan pulls it off through his vocal prowess. His silky-smooth vocal comes across as sensually attracted to what he sees physically and sincerely intrigued by the possibilities of what this night can be if he gets a favorable response to his introduction.
His conversational and buttery tenor is matched with an arrangement that has a stepper’s set vibe. The instrumentation is a set up for some couple’s dancing and a night on the town that’s torn from the storyboard of a romantic movie.
