(March 25, 2025) Frou Frou, the latest project from the Netherland based band Tristan, showcases the vocal dexterity of featured singer Irma Darby. Tristan is a group that puts a rotating roster of singers up front, and Derby has been the star of this project. She’s excelled on the pop infused “Changes” and the jazzy ballad “Will You Ever Stay.”
The band’s latest, the funky and seductive “Call Me,” finds Derby reminiscing on good times she had with someone from the past. She wishes that she hadn’t taken that person for granted, and hopes that he’d maybe give her a call.
“Call Me” has all of the elements that people who have an affinity for 1970s R&B enjoy. Instrumentally, there is a fusion of jazz and funk coming from a band that is totally in sync. Derby’s vocals are conversational while also possessing seduction and a sense of longing. Cjheck out “Call Me,” the latest from the band Tristan here.
