(May 21, 2020) Tracee Ellis Ross has brought to life many memorable characters on the small screen. From her eight years as Joan Clayton on the groundbreaking Girlfriends to her current role as Rainbow Johnson on Black-ish, the actress has successfully delved into a wide range of emotions.

Now, Ross is expanding that emotional scope with her professional debut as a vocalist—in conjunction with a lead role in the upcoming musical drama, The High Note. Relating the struggles of her character to stay authentic amidst the quest for success, she offers an earnest tone of reflection on “Love Myself.” One of a handful of tunes on the film’s soundtrack led by Ross, it is at once emotive and relevant.
