(December 5, 2022) If you’ve been part of SoulTracks since the early days, you know we have had a thing for soulful house trio Tortured Soul. Originally consisting of Ethan White, Jason Krivelof and frontman drummer-lead vocalist John-Christian Urich, TS brought infectious hooks and pop sensibilities to the dance music of the 00s. Their debut album, Introducing Tortured Soul, was the longest standing #1 album on the original SoulTracks album sales charts.
While TS (currently consisting of Urich, keyboardist Randy Emata, and bass player Ernie Mackone, with Brandon Chapman on guitar) takes its time between releases, they have been road warriors, regularly touring the world with their unique brand of music. And when they eventually get back into the studio, it’s a big deal to their fans.
The brand new Tortured Soul album, Take The Day Off, is another tasty collection of dance jams, beginning with the title track, an irresistible single that is quintessential Tortured Soul – earworm-worthy, with a vibe that could be listened to sitting down, but with a groove that makes you want to move.
“Take The Day Off” is our newest SoulTracks First Listen. Check it out below and welcome a longtime favorite back to SoulTracks.
