First Listen: Tom Glide and Funmilayo Ngozi give us what we “Need”

The acid jazz funk that permeates the bouncy “All I Need Is You” featuring Funmilayo Ngozi might lead some to believe that the Nigerian took the much trodden path from gospel to secular music. However, you would be wrong. If you’ve seen Ngozi perform on gospel impresario Bobby Jones’ program or listen to the tracks from her 2015 album Unconstrained, you know that Ngozi is comfortable repurposing the arrangements and production techniques of R&B and jazz to glorify God.

It appears that the song’s creator and producer, the ever present R&B, dance and funk wunderkind Tom Glide, saw and heard something in Ngozi and compelled him to move from his comfort zone with the product being this infectious gospel love song to the Almighty.

“All I Need Is You” is our newest SoulTracks First Listen. Enjoy!
