(August 17, 2016) Actor and civil rights activist Jesse Williams told the world via BET’s Music Awards that “just because we’re magic doesn’t mean we’re not real,” but that sentiment doesn’t apply when someone seems to cast a spell on your mind and your heart. Tom Bailey, a Connecticut-based musician by way of Paris, France, has managed to capture that awe-inspiring moment on a single from his upcoming EP entitled “Voodoo Woman.”

A self-taught bassist and keyboardist, Bailey lists American icons as Prince, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Wonder as major influences, but the one that’s channeled the most in this brooding and hypnotic number is Mr. “Jones In My Bones” himself, D’Angelo. Time will tell where Tom’s talents evolve from here, but the potential is undeniable and this particular “Voodoo” resonates long after the track ends.
