(June 26, 2026) The Weather Girls had a run in the late 70s and early 80s featuring fun, danceable music, always led by powerhouse vocals. In 1991, Dynelle “Dee” Rhodes, daughter of original member Izora Armstead, joined the group and later took the lead in preserving the group following her mother’s death.
Now it is 2026, and Dee is bringing the Weather Girls forward with funky number that has more than a touch of blues in it. “Spell On Me” tells the story of a woman whose world was turned upside down by the emergence of a man who was all that. The song has a classic R&B sound that fits the fun lyrics, and Dee’s dynamic vocals sell the whole thing beautifully.
