(October 2, 2025) The 1980s and early 1990s provided music lovers with a golden age of danceable R&B music – a killer combination of hooky melodies and great musicianship. Those sounds have largely moved to the independent soul and jazz scene in the 2020s, but there are still grooveable earworms to be found. The latest such gem is “Sunset Drive,” the fun collab between Suffolk, England band The Jupiter Gallery and three-time SoulTracks Readers’ Choice Award nominee Castella.
With a boogie groove recalling the sound of SOLAR, circa 1982, “Sunset Drive” is a top-down cruising number that is absolutely smile-inducing, with Castella and Jupiter Gallery vocalist Sebastian Humphrey capturing the joy in front of the popping backbeat. Says Castella, “The excitement and positive energy from the group’s keyboardist, A-Siege was infectious.”
Castella and her producer Darryl Swann have delivered one SoulTracks favorite after another over the past few years, and this teaming with The Jupiter Gallery may just be the best yet. Check out “Sunset Drive” below, and welcome this fun pairing to SoulTracks.
