(November 28, 2024) Amid their individual journeys as independent smooth R&B singer/songwriters, Ty Juan Peavy and Shawndella Roberts have found time to bridge their like-minded artistry together in the name of everlasting love and life. Hence, Smooth Blend was born.
Since the two established their partnership, SoulTracks has paid attention via several First Listens. In 2019, Smooth Blend guided listeners through “Moves” off their debut full-length, Couples Therapy, Session 1, illustrating the depths of the romantic trenches. Two years later, Ty Juan and Shawndella shared their positive party vibe on the Regi Myrix produced “It’s a Vibe” off of Myrix’s compilation, Blak Buttah Vol. 2.
Though the wait was long, our latest First Listen showcase brings back Smooth Blend, offering a possible (perhaps) sneak peek to another Couples Therapy session with the newest single and latest First Listen spotlight, “Spoke You” (Rydah Muzik Ent). And there are plenty of boldly spoken thoughts between Ty Juan and Shawndella sorting out the complexities comprising a new love breakthrough:
“Running from a checkered past, I see you. Yes, I see you/I like all your flaws to me you’re perfect/I found the one. There’s no more need to be searching/You keep my world turning.”
With Ty Juan in the production chair, the soundtrack kicks off with a classy electric piano solo. Then the intimate interplay focuses on Smooth Blend’s poetic voices as they eagerly anticipate a valuable relationship ahead. Check out “Spoke You.”
