First Listen: Raheem DeVaughn and Wes Felton say “Prayers”

crossrhodes

(October 10, 2016) Raheem DeVaughn and Wes Felton officially met in 1999. They worked together through an event called Groove Gumbo and a music collective title UrbanAve31. Three years later, the duo released a special project under name The CrossRhodes.

They have continued to collaborate on and off over the years, creating a socially conscious brand of R&B and hip hop that is both immediate and challenging.

In light of the many complex social issues facing the US now, particularly issues surrounding problems between police and African American men, The CrossRhodes rejoin to issue a new single that is both sonically appealing and thought-provoking. Listen to “Praying Prayers” below and tell us what you think.
