(May 23, 2022) Music groups have to be prepared for change. Being able to endure trials and challenges can be the difference between groups pressing forward and disbanding. For The Legendary Bluenotes, one of the most respected and endearing vocal groups from the 1970s, their ability to continue a recording and touring career has been a testament to their foundation. In spite of the passing of members and other personnel changes over the years, the group continues on with their latest single, “Anything For My Baby.”

Against a light arrangement with percussion and keys, The Legendary Bluenotes do not deviate from what has in fact made them legendary. Each member vocalizes his desire to do whatever is necessary to keep that special someone happy. The ballad is bolstered by the group harmonies, as well as the powerful lead vocals of Arthur “Sugarbear” Aiken. It’s an approach that effectively balances the song, with music, lyrics, and vocals all on point.

“Anything For My Baby” is another great notch on the musical belt for Philly Soul and a group that personifies it, The Legendary Bluenotes.
