(June 13, 2017) Borrowing a bit of a smoky vibe from the orchestral-soul arrangements of prime-time Barry White, and throwing in a nice dosage of his own smooth panache, Memphis-based Terry Harris previews his upcoming full-length album with an at-ease midtempo entry for the steppers, “It Never Rains.”
The jam glides assuredly from deep-hued verses to a vigorous tenor final chorus, while Harris (who first impressed SoulTrackers last year with a guest spot on Kejam Majek’s “Start All Over”) peppers the tasty rhythm structure with a palatable cool that’s on the mark.
