(May 1, 2026) I started bouncing the moment that I heard Brandon Lane drop that bass line on Terri Green’s new song, “Starlight.” If you didn’t come up in the 1970s, well… you had to be there. That rumble and that Larry Graham plucking is a signal. It means get moves to the dance floor.
But don’t get it twisted. ”Starlight” has plenty of elements that announce that the party is on. The hand claps are one, so is the conversation taking place between Lane’s bass and the guitar. Then there are those horns. And, of course, there’s Green using her powerful and sensual vocal instrument to sing about a love that shoots her into the stratosphere.
Green’s “Starlight” takes us back to a wonderful time in music and life. The world was opening, and people were ready and willing to expand minds. We were putting people on the moon and sending satellite int the orbit. “Star Trek” and “Star Wars” had us imagining distant worlds, and singers caught the vibe as well. That’s the spirit that Green and Lane capture with “Starlight,” which is an up-tempo fusion of disco and funk that describes the feeling that comes over us when we come across someone who makes our hearts defy gravity.
We have the World Premiere of the music video for “Starlight,” and it is as fun as the song. Check it out below.
