(September 15, 2026) Terri Green and Castella are two vocalists who know their way around a remake. Green and Castella have the chops that allow them to sing jazz, pop, R&B, southern soul, disco, as well as dive into the Great American Songbook.
So, when the two pair up to put their spin on one of Al Jarreau’s big hits, expect for Green and Castella to strike the right balance between honoring the legacy of the late jazz man while also making the song distinctively their own. That is what Green and Castella do on “Trouble in Paradise,” one of three chart topping singles from Jarreau’s self-titled 1983 album.
Green and Castella share vocals on tune, and Cool Million member Rob Hardt produced. Sonically, this version will ring familiar to Jarreau fans. However, this version leans more into jazz and R&B, while the original has a breezy pop sound. Also, the pairing of Green and Castella on the vocals gives their version of “Trouble in Paradise” the feel of two friends embarking on an intervention with a fellow whose relationship has reached a crossroads.
That tag teaming works. The lyrics encourage the guy not to ditch his relationship because he and his lady are experiencing a chill. Do the work to find the spark the reignites the relationship. That subject matter is relatable, and Green and Castella bring it home. Check out their rendition of “Trouble in Paradise” here.
