First Listen: 50 years later, The Temptations get a fresh, chilled holiday remix

(December 11, 2020) Of course, I expected to hate this, but I love it. Back in 1970, the classic lineup of The Temptations released a soulful version of “Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer.” It became one of their signature holiday songs, getting regular play on UAC radio for the past half century. So, what good could come from a couple of Canadian DJs trying to recreate the song, 2020 style? Well, plenty good.

50 years after the song’s release, “Rudolph” has received a new remix treatment that gives the song a chill, late-night urban feel that works shockingly well. Reimagined by Canadian producer/DJ duo Blond:ish (Anstascia D’Elene Corniere and Vivie-ann Bakos), the song is almost unrecognizable in its cool new, lush clothes. The Motown hits have been remixed endlessly by admiring next gen producers, but the results have been hit or miss. This one is all hit.

Take a listen below. We think you’re gonna dig this.
