First Listen: Teisha Marie stops the delays on “NOW”

(February 9, 2022) Teisha Marie’s “Now” is a both a wakeup call and a call to action.  Marie said the song’s intent is to push past procrastination, and the tune’s percussive, insistent beat that has the feel and sound of inexorable forward march of clock, along with the inspirational lyrics allow “Now” to accomplish that mission.

“Now” speaks to the place where we find ourselves in today’s world – trapped between our desire to move forward and live our lives and worry about the damage that one wrong move can cause. “Now” serves as a reminder not to allow caution to become complacency. Be careful, but also be active. It’s a timely message, and one that in a large sense, is inspired by the England born, US raised singer Spelman College grad.

The songs that Marie wrote for her debut project, the EP Addicted To Life, were actually intended for someone else. However, after trying to find a vocalist to sing her music without success, Marie realized it was no time like the present and nobody but herself. She cut the EP with her as the lead vocalist and immediately captured the attention of music aficionados – including here at SoulTracks. That was in 2008, and Marie hasn’t stopped. She dropped The Girl from Nowhere in 2013 and has been collaborating with others. She returns in 2022 with “Now.” Check it out here.
