(May 13, 2025) “Dreaming” by soul newcomer Taylor Williams will give listeners the feel of a basement house party when the party organizers turn on the blue light. The blue light is the signal for the fellas to seek out the young lady that they have been dying to get close to. The moment that guitar and bass break into that intro, you slide next to her and ask her to dance.
Maybe she says yes, and if she does you spend the next three minutes in heaven. If you are like me, her yes leaves you at a loss for words, but you pull her close and let Williams velvety falsetto speak for you.
Of course, Taylor is singing about lost love, and his dreams of that lost love will have to fill that empty space until she returns. That might not be where you want to be, but so what. For three minutes, she’s in your arms and the dreams a reality. Williams vocal plea lets her know that he understands what he’s lost, and that he’ll be better next time.
Williams’ vocals mesh with the angelic vocalizing of the backing singers, the slow pulsating bass line and bluesy guitar riff on this romantic throwback. Check out “Dreaming,” Taylor Williams debut single for Colemine Records, here.
