Mississippi native Tawanna Shaunte has established in her brief career a talent for both lyrical meaning and musical diversity. She combines element of soul, folk, blues and jazz to support her impactful lyrics.
After a few years as part of the band Eclectik Soul, Tawanna is now front and center on her new album, Freedom Agent. And she leads it off with the very nice acoustic single, “Get Together.” It is a mellow number that has distinct elements of folk, but with jazzy arrangements behind the acoustic guitar. Tawanna describes the song as “a romantic soulful groove that captures the essence of finding that special someone.”
