Austin-based soul-pop songstress, Tameca Jones, has dropped her new single, “Hot and Bothered.” Taken from her debut EP that’s due out in 2016 and produced by Josh Moore (Max Frost), “Hot and Bothered” will act as a preview to her debut performance at Austin City Limits Music Festival. She recently received praise from Billboard Magazine, which said she “raised the roof” at her performance at the 2015 Austin Music Awards, where she paid tribute to late beloved musician, Ian McLagan, alongside legends Steven Van Zandt, Charlie Sexton, Alejandro Escovedo and Patty Griffin. Jones recently joined forces with fellow Austinite, Gary Clark Jr., on the track “Wings” from his new album, The Story of Sonny Boy Slim.
Tameca began her musical journey in 2005, when she joined Austin-based band, 8 Million Stories, and performed her original music. A few years later, the band called it quits, which left Jones without someone to help her create. So, she turned to covers to continue playing, grow her audience and pay the bills. Her reinterpretations span a diverse list of artists and idols that include Tina Turner, Nirvana, Elton John, Jimi Hendrix and more. Now, she is ready to emerge from underneath the covers and expose who she is as an original artist on “Hot and Bothered” and her forthcoming EP.
Tameca tells us, “‘Hot and Bothered’ came into this world as a Motown inspired drum and bass loop I found on Garageband one fine day. The loops made my head bob and booty shake, which is key for any song I create. At the time, I had a huge crush on a guy. I’m super shy, so I used this song to get my feelings out. I tried to think of smooth and clever compliments. ‘Give my regards to the woman that made ya.’ Man, that line is smooth as hell. If someone approached me with that line right there, my panties would drop “
