(March 9, 2026) Polish-born bassist/bandleader/producer Szymon Justyński is what one would call an old soul in a young man’s body. Born in 1996, his works master the sounds of R&B, soul, funk and contemporary jazz that existed long before his birth. Dating back to his debut on Rivamare Records’ “Mekambe,” Justyński incorporates the aforementioned classic genres while developing his own style, thus following the advice of this song title from Sir Elton John to “grow some funk of your own.”
The new single, “No Ordinary Moment,” is a smooth as silk collaboration between Justyński, singer Ray Greene and sax man Marc Russo. Greene, the current and longtime lead singer of Santana, brings his sweet yet powerful vocals to this retro-smooth jazz/soul inspired ballad. Russo’s sax work brings the fire towards the middle of this gem as he and Greene bring it home. Justyński’s bass and production work is top notch here. While the song does indeed pay tribute to the smooth grooves of the 1990’s, the sound is fresh and bright.
“No Ordinary Moment” is another single from Szymon Justyński’s upcoming album, Last Romantic Warrior. Looking forward to hearing more from him and his collaborators.
