(August 5, 2020) As we are progressing through this summer, we are beginning to reap the harvest of what I am calling “quarantine creativity.” Artists that historically spent their lives on the road are now found at home are writing, recording, and collaborating.
One example of this creative is the new single by singer/musician Rachel Eckroth and queen of Indie Soul, Sy Smith. After touring together with Chris Botti, and guesting on each other’s shows and albums, they came together at the perfect time to release “Perfect Love.”
Melodic and hypnotic, “Perfect Love” is a mid-tempo sensual number driven by Eckroth on keys and Rhodes and Smith’s vocal arrangements and harmonies. Their chemistry is apparent throughout the song, as Eckroth’s approach in producing this song effectively shows off their abilities, giving vibes of Patrice Rushen in the process.
Here’s hoping for a full album or EP from these two musical powerhouses; but for now “Perfect Love” perfectly stands out as not just one of the premiere songs of the summer, but of 2020.
