(March 23, 2020) Summer Dennis & Rhymes have well-earned reputation for making music that gets folks in the DMV on the dance floor to work it out. Their seven track EP, Second Summer, features six infectiously funky tracks that demand high energy movement. Cuts range from “Indelible,” with Rhymes’ slashing rock infused guitar playing fused with funky percussion to the mid-tempo R&B with gospel influences of “Real Love.”
Then, there is “When It’s This Good,” the video and song featured in this First Listen. “When It’s This Good” is a straight up slow jam that would be right at home of Quiet Storm radio. Dennis’ vocal floats over a smooth bass line and there is enough room in the musical arrangement for Rhymes to showcase his creativity on the six string.
