Stone City Band’s Stone Paxton shows us the “History”

(March 29, 2022) From straight up funk to neo-soul, Stone Paxton has done it. Paxton’s background includes being a member of Rick James Stone City Band and he produced and co-wrote “Steppin,” which was a Top 20 hit in the UK for Marva King (feat. Christopher Williams). His new song “History,” is a breezy mid-tempo cut that SoulTrackers will enjoy. The tune is a single from his upcoming album Kundalini Awakening.

“History” is a song that finds two people taking a melodic journey together as they build a life together. The takes a bouncy and optimistic tone as it celebrates the kind of commitment that it takes for two people to build a life and history together. “History” is a departure from the hard driving funk feature on his 2018 project In The Key of Love. In a way, it’s not surprising that someone from the Rick James tree displays this kind of musical diversity. James could move from rock infused funk to simmering romantic duets, often on the same album.

With “History,” Paxton has crafted a song bathes itself in romance and is an open invitation for couples to connect on the dance floor or skating rink. Check out Stone Paxton’s “History here.
