(November 10, 2024) For the past few years, guitarist/bassist/bandleader Stone Paxton has made his way onto the R&B charts here and the UK with over a half-dozen hits under his belt. Since Paxton’s days with the legendary Stone City Band (yes, the one founded and led by the late, great Rick James), he’s long since emerged as a noted artist in his own right.
With this new single, “Luv On The Dance Floor,” Stone hits a smooth Steppers groove from beginning to end, not missing a beat nor letting up. On lead vocals is Allen McNeil, a familiar voice to many from his days with the million-selling R&B quintet, Troop.
Paxton’s funky-as-all-get-out bass line lays down a tasty foundation for “Luv…” with light string synths accenting nicely on the chorus. As for Allen’s vocals, they don’t miss as he’s calling his leading lady to the dance floor that promises to make way for even more romance when the dance is over.
This here single from Paxton’s upcoming album, Generation X, is a promising intro for the soon to be released long-player. Keep up the groove, guys. We need more of this.
