Lindsey Webster and Mint Condition’s Stokley give us their “Hearts”

(March 6, 2026) On her upcoming CD, Music in Me, Jazz stylist Lindsey Webster subscribes to the belief that music connects on many different levels, recalling how those connections have helped her career to blossom.  Though there were dues paying days, the Woodstock, NY born Webster ultimately discovered her happy territory producing Billboard Top 30 Smooth Jazz successes from “Fool Me Twice” to the title track “Music in Me.” And her gorgeous soulful textures seamlessly blending with pop, jazz and R&B soundtracks have been rewarded with applause of SoulTrackers the past decade.

Through the years, Webster has witnessed fans who have transformed new acquaintances: “Music has a way of uniting people even it that is not its goal.”  Also, ask fellow collaborators like Nathan East and Brian Culbertson, who have expressed appreciation about her honest storytelling abilities sealed with a mature vocal delivery.

For the follow-up to “Music in Me,” First Listen presents Webster choosing an early eighties soul gem from Stephanie Mills & Teddy Pendergrass in “Two Hearts.”  This refreshing version co-produced by Webster, longtime musical associate Keith Slattery and Rob Chiarelli lays down a thumping disco soundtrack, a slight contrast to the original recording.  But the arrangement suits the riveting interaction between Webster and guest vocalist Stokley about one who praises their partner for their patience and loyalty:

“You’ve given me so much of yourself
‘til I don’t need nobody else
And with each passing day
My love for you grows stronger every way/
You are my life.”

“Two Hearts” also shows off Webster’s vocal tools in navigating dance rhythms when most of her previous work leaned more towards midtempos and ballads.  Yet no matter what vibe Webster is feeling, listeners will continue uniting in musical bliss.  Check it out!
