First Listen: Lloyd returns with an aim that is “Tru”

(October 24, 2016) Lloyd may have been out of the music game since 2011, but since he debuted with teen group N-Toon a decade before then, the New Orleans native, compared to his peers, is actually a vet.

His return to the scene is in the form of a ballad, “Tru,” but not the sex-starved panty-collecting type you would expect. Instead, the engaging and acoustic-flavored groove is all about reflection, introspection and yes, growth into adulthood. “Hey world it’s been awhile, just thought I’d come around and let you know what’s up now” is where Lloyd begins, catching fans up on his personal life, his new squad and, yes, an intentional effort to rise from the ashes, rebuild and stay….well, you already know. It may catch listeners by surprise, but that’s a positive thing and could be a sign of more artistic proficiency to come.
