The Motor City has long known Caleb Gutierrez as the lead singer of the band The Infatuations – a band he fronted for four years. The Infatuations became a Detroit institution, releasing an album, performing at venues throughout the area and opening for A-listers such as George Clinton. Gutierrez is a classically trained vocalist who has been singing since age five, and he had a desire to break out.
SoulTrackers who listen to the funky and hypnotic “Addicted” will hear a voice that is both familiar and distinct. The tune is a throwback fun record that finds Gutierrez acknowledging his emotional and physical dependence on the world’s most powerful drug – love. Or as Caleb Gutierrez put it: “‘Addicted’ is a song written about the power of addiction. Anyone who has a pulse can relate to the rush of something you just can’t get enough of, whether it’s a person or a thing. The groove hits you while the lyrics speak the emotion.” Check it out.
