(April 9, 2026) At age 16, Sophia Bromberg chose pop icon and judge Ariana Grande to guide her through NBC’s The Voice. Though she didn’t attain the grand prize, Bromberg’s post reality show chapter was undeterred, as she developed her artistic platform. Since then, this San Francisco native’s empowering storylines surpassed her soulful Voice performances, earning a Grammy Nomination. And SoulTracks emphatically saw her artistic vision – nominating her for Best New Artist of the Year in its 2022 Readers Choice Awards and spotlighting her in several First Listen spotlights (e.g., “Chili,” “Sesame”). Furthermore, Bromberg’s current psychology studies at UC Berkeley helped connect her deep canvas of emotional insights with her listening audiences.
On the latest First Listen installment, Bromberg flows with introspection about our unique selves with “Not Anybody’s Baby.” The solid grooves provided by producers Mosiac & Grhm jumpstart a catchy pop/R&B narrative with keys, bass and drums. And Bromberg confidently conveys acceptance and believing in ourselves, no matter what the circumstances may bring:
What if all we wanted to we could?
I feel everything, so much beauty in the pain
I am, I am not my name
Just a floating little soul that I know
deep inside my core.
“Not Anybody’s Baby” proves Bromberg is more than just a voice in life’s wilderness, and her soulful inflections accent any song she captures through the pen. Check it out!
