(July 24, 2019) It seemed it was only a minute ago that we introduced SoulTracks readers to the singer/songwriter and almost one man show Son of Pearl (a.k.a. Tedi Robinson), with the track “Trust Love All The Way” from his project, Songs of Beale Street. The artist remains one of the busiest men in the independent music industry under his State of Tenacity moniker, backed by a catalog of old school R&B flavored tracks.
This time around, Son of Pearl switches gears from the spiritually minded ‘Trust’ to a let it all hang out moment for the summer season, with “My Summer Time Love,” featured on his latest E.P., Summer Songs, Vol. 1. While short of the stronger orchestrations an “Trust,” “My Summer Time Love” keeps Son of Pearl’s promise of zoning in on an eighties and nineties R&B vibe, sprinkled by some mellow funky bass guitar and catchy keyboard fills.
