(August 26, 2026) Singer-songwriter and DJ Soleil is new to us, but she is an artist on the rise. She received attention earlier this year for her jazzy, soulful take on Dolly Parton’s “Jolene.” Now she returns with an original that opens up her artistry even more.
“Heart Strings” is an old school R&B ballad where the restrained production is designed to show off the powerful voice of this young singer. Written by Soleil with CJ Hilton, who also produced the track, the song looks back on a relationship that didn’t quite work, moving from lingering questions and regret toward something more empowering.
Soleil describes the song as capturing “the bittersweet process of letting go while reclaiming the parts of yourself that someone else never gave you,” and that progression comes through clearly in both the lyrics and her assertive performance.
Hilton’s band — Richard Boisrond on guitar, Moises Lenare on drums, Josh Walton on bass and Juan Santiago on keyboards – delivers the goods, and gives the song a live feel.
