First Listen: Skye sways in the “Palm Trees”

(September 13, 2019) SoulTrackers, you’re gonna absolutely love this.

With an iridescent glow of Ne-Yo and a splash of Prince on New wave, Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Skye hits us with “Palm Trees,” a gem that plays like a confection of soul-meets-pop ear candy. And thanks to the handsome production of K-Quick (Alessia Cara, Queen Naija, J Cole), bountiful backing vocals and ‘80’s neon synth splashes are wonderfully stacked on top, as Skye croons using plenty of contemporary R&B grit.

Although Skye has been hard-at-work in developing his resume, which also includes a Grammy nomination for songwriting on Lynette Washington’s 2010 album, Kaleidoscope, this may be our first real introduction to him. And it’s quite an impressive one. Look for the dope track to surface on his forthcoming EP scheduled to drop later this year.

And be sure to let us know what you think below.
