(January 18, 2021) Sir Jonathan Williams and The Rimshots provided the instrumental accompaniment for some R&B and soul heavy hitters. That list includes The Moments, Etta James and Brook Benton. That means The Rimshots know how to play a ballad. On Williams’ 2020 single, “Your Place or Mine,” he showed that he knows how to perform one. That track possessed a mid-tempo steppers’ arrangement and told the story of two people trying figure out where to spend their first night together.
Williams returns now with “You Are My Dream Girl,” a track that features lyrics that bring good old-fashioned gentlemanly romance back into the game while dropping some contemporary R&B element such as autotune into the mix. Williams does all of the heavy lifting on this track. He served as executive producer, handled all of the instrumentals and vocals and co-wrote the tune.
