(August 16, 2019) Mick Hucknall, known to most as the leader of the band Simply Red, has been part of our lives since he burst on the scene in 1983 with the back to back blue eyed soul hits “Holding Back The Years” and “Money’s Too Tight (To Mention).” Those began a string of memorable songs that brought Simply Red acclaim on both sides of the Atlantic.
The English act has continued to record regularly for three and a half decades and is now readying a brand new album called, appropriately, Blue Eyed Soul. And the first single from the disc is a rollicking, fun number featuring a heavy beat and a powerful horn section throughout. “Thinking of You” is the kind of song that will get you going on a dreary morning, and will keep you smiling most of the day, too.
