(October 17, 2018) London continues to be a fertile ground for young acts who grew up on classic soul and look to carry on the tradition in their own music. And that’s the case with the new band Signal6, a six piece group featuring members Phil Rose (vocals), Hugo (Guitar), Louis Cowling (Drums), Aidan Pearson (Saxophone), Dan Mulligan (Trombone) and Anthony Boatright (Bass).
Starting as a 4 piece, the band was formed at BIMM London. All with very different musical backgrounds and each with their own eclectic taste, we came together to create a very unique sound, one that takes the majority of its influence from funk, soul and jazz, all with a modern twist. The band will be releasing its first three singles in the Fall, and it is clear that the members have meshed well.
We’re happy to present the World Premiere of the video for the single “Six Days,” a tasty slow jam featuring an intro of electric guitar lead and Rose’s vocals before the horns build their way in, leading to a steadier jam that works very well. Phil Rose tells us, “I wrote the song around a year ago. I used to be a chef and during one of my positions the restaurant lost a lot of chefs all of a sudden and I was forced to work around 20 hrs for 6 days in a row. As a result I went a little “nuts” from sleep deprivation. I wrote this song as a kind of comedic way of looking at the situation.”
