(June 26, 2024) When it comes to Jazz and R&B, Maysa and Stokley are top-tier acts, highly regarded for their music as members of groups (Incognito, Mint Condition) and as solo artists. In 2015, the two dynamic singers released a duet entitled “Keep It Movin’” about the possibility of moving on from a relationship. Now, they have reunited on a new duet called “Your Love Kept Calling My Name.” It’s the latest single by multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and national radio host Shaun LaBelle, who’s been a fixture in pop, Jazz and R&B for decades.
In an interview, Shaun says he’s excited for the single as it finds Maysa and Stokley “rekindling their romance” on his record, picking up where they left off (musically speaking) on their 2015 duet. On “Your Love Kept Calling My Name”, which is part of Shaun’s upcoming album, Maysa and Stokley sing about letting go of the past and allowing love to lead the way. Their soulful voices complement each other well on this track that any smooth jazz enthusiast would love to hear, as it features bass guitar (Shaun LaBelle), acoustic piano (Jeff Lorber), the saxophone (Patrick Lamb), and keyboards (Maurizio Metalli).
Not only have Shaun LaBelle, Maysa and Stokley come together on record, but they are fusing their talents on a series of exclusive USA concerts, including “Jazz at the Oxford” (which is curated by Patrick Lamb) in January 2025 in Bend, Oregon.
“Your Love Kept Calling My Name” is calling out to you, so check out this new soulful jazz tune below.
