First Listen: More Reasons To “Love” Sensere

sensere

The Miami-based hybrid band of blended soul, rock, and gospel, whose “Got Jesus” took MTV by storm already won us over long before we heard the rest of their critically-acclaimed debut, The Soul of Future Worship Vol. 1. With a primo horn section reminiscent of Earth Wind and Fire and a rash of classic male soul voices ala The Four Tops and The Stylistics, the debut delivered original musical homages to everything from Motown to Philadelphia International Records, while also engaging in plenty of unambiguous Christian praise and worship. This is not watered-down “inspirational” music; messages of Christ are front and center. Nominated for a 2012 SoulTracks Readers Choice Award for “Best Group of the Year,” Sensere has already proven a fan favorite with our readers.

So the late summer release of the first single from their forthcoming autumn release of The Soul of Future Worship Vol. 2 is only likely to endear them further. An atmospheric mid-tempo retro soul ditty, “Love” is a reflective tribute to the power of love in its many different iterations. The wah-wah guitars, relaxed rhythm section, and cinematic strings bear all the marks of early ‘70s soul, while the effortless vocal trade-offs personify the best of Sensere’s sensitively masculine performances. We “love” this teaser and can’t wait to hear more about life, love, and worship from a Sensere point of view.
