It makes many of us strive to maintain order no matter what the cost, yet there are times we should let go and let flow. That’s the point of discovery that Scottie Barnett is exploring within the melodic, mid-tempo muse “Soul Controller.”
Laced with soothing echoes and anchored with a hip-hop infused staccato rhythm, the intertwining of funk and R&B is hypnotic and the message is deceptively simple: sooner or later, we eventually surrender ourselves to a feeling, a belief, a circumstance…or a groove: Silver Angelina’s stirring soprano vocals ride the beat and often soars above it compellingly, “Everybody chases something they can’t make, following the voice hoping it ain’t the same.“
Life brings many influences and perspectives, some of them ebb away with time and some will linger, positively or negatively. Consider “Soul Controller” a track you want to add to your playlist to get the heads nodding, make your morning commute a little less tense or just a way to meditate with yourself and remind your present day adult that sometimes, new artistry should be supported and occasionally, letting go of what is for what could be might actually be a good thing. At least once in awhile.
