First Listen: Scottie Barnett and Victoria Solo are “Ghostwatching”

(May 29, 2026) “Ghost Watching,” the new atmospheric neo-soul jam by Scottie Barnett and featuring vocals by Nigerian singer Victoria Sola, is about a person being haunted by a relationship that was supposed to have breathed its last breath.

Sola’s hypnotic, stream of consciousness vocals describes two people who are simultaneously looking back even as she tries to move forward. Both constantly keep track of who goes through their Ex’s relationship revolving door. Both have the nerve to get mad about what they see. These two people are not over each other despite their best efforts to move on. That’s not a good place to be for anyone involved.

However, Barnett and Sola take their listeners on a journey that is compelling. “Ghost Watching” has an arrangement that is a mixture of late-night soul and jazz. And by late night, I mean the tune puts the listener as undetected third party on a late-night phone call, where we listen as Sola pours out her feelings. Musically, the arrangement is jazzy with some insistent drum work that keeps time over spell binding keyboards.
