(June 12, 2023) We have been following the rising career of Bay Area singer, songwriter and guitarist Sargent Tucker for a few years now. Awhile ago we nicknamed him “Mr. Summer,” because he always seems to deliver a cool, sunny jam for us every time the weather warms up.
Following his Spring 2023 hit, “Don’t You Blow It,” Sargent has issued a new single with some history: Around a decade ago ago, Sargent released an EP called Simply Sargent Tucker (remember the single “All The Squares”?) that didn’t get the public shine it deserved, so he recently retrieved the master recordings from that album from his former label, and is planning to re-issue it soon.
The first single from that collection is “I’m In Need (For Your Touch),” a groovy midtempo number on which Sargent proclaims his desire for the magic feel of his lover. The song was recorded in 2013 with longtime collaborator Levi Seacer (Prince) and gives a nice foretaste of the way Sargent’s music would develop in the years since it was originally released.
