(October 10, 2023) Acclaimed UK producer Nigel Lowis along with the Soul City Connection recently teamed up with Dutch singer/songwriter Rose Spearman to create a flashy nostalgic workout to ethereal disco. With the recent resurgence of disco à la Dua Lipa, Beyoncé, Jessie Ware and Lizzo, the timing couldn’t be better.
Inside “I Found Love,” you can hear the funky bass lines and rhythmic punches of Teena Marie’s “I Need Your Loving” making its way through the incredible sequin-detailed act. Deep inside, Slikk Tim’s groovy live bass continues to flourish with the delicious pairing of disco dazzled strings and soulful backing vocals. And if Graeme James’s illustrious strings aren’t enough for this mirror ball-clad feature, there’s the centerpiece of Rose Spearman on lead vocals, elevating the five-minute mix with plenty of sass and a rich performance resembling the vocal depths of Teena Marie and Lisa Stansfield. The homage to Marie is greatly heightened when you hear Spearman tackle the vamp towards the middle of the dance floor filler: “Just a little lovin’, me and you/It will do.”
Check out this groovy First Listen from this Nigel Lowis/Rose Spearman collaboration and let us know if you’ve “found love” in the music.
