(December 17, 2025) Funk man RonKat Spearman begins his song “Believer” by asking a series of probing and deep questions: “Are we the truth / Are we the lie / Are we the reason / Our children die / Are we the change / We need to be / For a better world / For you and me.”
From that introductory first verse, it’s clear that “Believer” is music with a message. And if you know anything about RonKat Spearman’s CV, you know that message will be delivered On The One! Spearman co-wrote the New Jack hit “Don’t Walk Away,” just to name one tune that he penned. Spearman is a gifted multi-instrumentalist who’s played with a who’s who of funk, R&G and hip-hop legends, including George Clinton as a member of Parliament-Funkadelic from 2000-10. Spearman left to focus on his own band Katdelic.
Spearman’s “Believer” is a song that drips in funk. That insistently funky bass line engaging in an On The One conversation with that bass will get people on the dance floor. The lyrics, which remind people that the choices they have to be an instrument of peace or a tool of destruction will prompt them to think. Check out RonKat Spearman’s “Believer” here.
