(May 26, 2026) LA-based singer Robbie Love is a relatively new voice to soul music fans, but her connection with the genre goes way back. The daughter of soul and gospel singer Mary Love Comer, Robbie grew up in a musical family where R&B history was not just on the radio but in the room. Her extended circle included figures such as Dennis Edwards of The Temptations, Charles Wright of the Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band, Willie Hutch, and Lamont McLemore of The 5th Dimension, giving her a childhood steeped in the culture of classic soul.
SoulTracks introduced Love’s artistry to our readers in 2024 when we featured “24/7” – an upbeat jam that displayed Love’s rich alto stylings, and her subsequent collabos with Julian Jonah completely won us over.
Now, Robbie has released her debut EP, Just Robbie, produced by SoulTracks Readers’ Choice Awards nominee Juewett Bostick. The album features a number of stylish songs that straddle the soul and jazz border, perhaps our favorite of which is the midtempo number “When Love Comes Around,” featuring Welton Gite and Gemi Taylor.
“Love Comes Around” has the feel of a Jam & Lewis classic, and is another reminder that Robbie Love is a singer who has definitely arrived. This song could have worked in any decade of the last 50 years, and it shines in 2026. Check it out below and get to know Robbie Love.
