(February 17, 2020) London-born Andrew Roachford leaped into the top five of the UK charts and the US top 40 in 1989 with the soulful rocker, “Cuddly Toy.” As lead vocalist and keyboardist for the Roachford band, he achieved a dozen further hits over the following decade with tunes including 1994’s passionate “Only to Be With You” and 1997’s pensive “The Way I Feel.”
Andrew has released a handful of lauded solo albums since the turn of the century, on top of assuming co-lead vocal duties with English band Mike + The Mechanics in 2010. Currently, he’s preparing for the April release of a new CD, Twice in a Lifetime, from which he recently unveiled the compelling first single, “Love Remedy.” Following an operation in 2018 to remove lesions from his vocal cords, the distinctive singer is in top form delivering the tune’s engaging melody and comforting lyrics. There’s a simultaneous vulnerability and strength to his approach which is finely suited to the rhythmic sway and organic arrangement of the number, produced by Jimmy Hogarth (Amy Winehouse).
