First Look: Regina Madre and Terry Crews tell a tale on “Reaching for the Top”

(July 12, 2021) A couple years ago, we introduced SoulTrackers to singer Regina Madre, the alter ego of television star Rebecca King-Crews, known by many for her work with her husband, Terry Crews. Madre’s understated vocals and mysterious persona connected with our readers, who went for her singles “(I Keep) Holding On” and “Destiny.”

Madre is back with a brand new single that is featured in a fun video in which she stars with hubby Crews, who plays the fictional 1977 record company executive Nate Sayer. Sayer turns down Madre’s song, and demeans songs of female empowerment in the process. And Crews chews up the scene with absolute delight. Fast forward to that night at the roller rink, where Madre’s song is a hit with the crowd, and viewers get to see Sayer backpedaling…fast.

“Reaching For the Top” is a mild dance number with an appropriate late 70s feel, and Madre provides her soothing vocals throughout. The song works on its own, but does even better with the backdrop of the video.

Check out “Reaching For the Top” below, and welcome the talented Crews famly back to SoulTracks.
