Released on November 1st, Grammy winner Regina Belle issued her first ever holiday album, My Colorful Christmas, on her own label, Tashi3 Entertainment.
The songstress brings together family members to create a magical work filled with Christmas classics – “The First Noel,” “Silent Night,” and songs of remembrance like “Auld Lang Syne” and a new composition “I Had to Leave (A Song from Bernie)” – a Regina co-write with brother Bernard Belle. In addition, Ms. Belle’s daughters Sydni and Nyla are vocalists on the album, son Jayln on drums, niece Janah is a backing vocalist while nephew Jahmel is producing and playing drums as well.
The lead off single, “A Cradle In Bethlehem,” is classic Regina Belle – sultry vocals with a smooth soul/jazz arrangement which complements Ms. Belle’s voice. Proof that Christmas tunes and jazz/R&B arrangements make for a perfect combination.
Lush and beautiful, “A Cradle In Bethlehem” and the entire “My Colorful Christmas” album is a great listen from start to finish. And very colorful indeed, musically. Well done, Ms. Belle and family.
