(August 18, 2025) Willie Triplett and Gerald Valentine, the two founding members of 1980s band Ready for the World who are leading the reformed band into the contemporary R&B landscape, knew making music that would be relevant in 2025 would be challenging.
Or as Triplett says: “We’ve always been guided by what feels right, and back in the 80s, it was tracks like ‘Oh Sheila,’ ‘Love You Down,’ ‘Tonight,’ and ‘Digital Display.’ Songs that came straight from the heart. That same instinct drives us now, only this time we’re blending our legacy with fresh sounds and fearless storytelling.”
“Feelin’ U,” RFTW’s new song and lead single from their upcoming album, Ready Sonique, shows that Triplett and Valentine are quick and open to learning about the vocal and production techniques populating R&B radio. The two were also willing to recruit new school artists like David Lyve who are comfortable with the emerging R&B sounds.
“Feelin’ U” is a simmering bedroom ballad for a new generation from a group that has a history in that department. Check it out here.
