(December 16, 2022) When two forces from different corners of the R&B world team up for a new musical endeavor, it’s always exciting to hear what flavors might emerge. Recently, songwriter/producer/vocalist Brian Morgan and his family ensemble collaborated with revered Surface founder Dave “Pic” Conley (and his current vocal cohort, John Feva) to record a smooth-sailing uptempo groove entitled “Just Dance.”

The quietly colorful affair features vocals from Feva and Morgan (who, aside from his work with the likes of Kashif and Regina Belle, is known to avid soul collectors for his own ‘80s single, “Wanna Love Ya”); softly majestic flute lines from Conley; a female chorus; and a well-conceived arrangement that keeps the kinetic vibes going throughout. The serene verse melodies and inviting hook are particularly engaging components with the vocal tradeoffs complemented by steady guitar riffs and a subtle synth breakdown.
